SIR Dan Meister
Dan was born in San Francisco but grew up here in Sacramento. After graduating from Foothill High School, Dan went to American River College and also gained his EMT certificate from Sierra College. Dan was hired by the California State Police, which sent him to the Rio Hondo police academy in Whittier.
Dan spent 15 years with the State Police in Southern California, 5 more with the Environmental Protection Agency as an investigator in SoCal, plus 5 more years with the EPA in Sacramento. Finally, he went to work for CalTrans as an investigator for the final 10 years of his employment. He happily retired at age 55!
Dan has one son and three grandchildren. He still owns quite a few motorcycles from his youthful racing days even though he no longer rides. Dan studies astronomy, pursues bicycling, and he and his wife are always up for wine tasting and travel. | SIR David Weightman
David was born in Washington, DC, and grew up there until his mid-teens. He finished high school in Colorado and next went to Colorado State University - Ft. Collins. David graduated with a degree in music but switched direction and went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to earn an advanced degree in environmental studies and energy resources (1986).
He moved to California (1990) to work for the CA Integrated Waste Management Board (now, Cal Recycle), He spent the last 10 years of his career at the CA Energy Commission working on climate change initiatives and energy efficiency research in industrial processes.
David has one son. He continues to pursue his life-long love of music (he owns six guitars), plus biking and hiking. David is planning to start bowling with our Wednesday bowling league, too.
