ACTIVITIES
Golf is without a doubt the leading activity of our branch. Of 156 branch members, over 100 are golfers. The golf program that our golf director, Lennie Silva has established, is well known in the Sacramento area. It is designed to be enjoyed by any golfer from the hacker on his first time out, to the scratch golfer. We have two golf groups within our branch and we are affiliated with another Area SIR group.
Bowling is an important part of our branch. We bowl all year long with league bowling from September to May and pot bowling during the summer months. We bowl each Wednesday at Country Club Lanes at 11:00AM. Our league is normally made up of fourteen teams and we generally have a good representation at State and California Senior tournaments.
Book Club: We have a very active book club with a book exchange at every Branch Luncheon. Just bring in any book and exchange it for one that you haven't read.
Travel: We offer you the opportunity to travel with your friends and new acquaintances at a reduced price. Besides the monthly “Gamblers Special” to Reno/Tahoe or an Indian Casino, we offer overnight trips and long excursions to different parts of the US and beyond.
Dinner/Theater Group: The Dinner/Theater Group is the newest activity in the branch. At least once each quarter we go to a restaurant as a group then proceed to one of the local theaters. Because we have in excess of 30 members/wives/significant others attending, we normally get a reduced rate at the theater.
Lunch & Explore Club: We are extremely fortunate to live in the Sacramento area with it's myriad of cultural, historical and physical attractions. Have you heard of Underground Sacramento and have you visited it? Have you ever been to Nimbus Dam during salmon spawning season and seen the fish ladders? How about wine tasting and how it is made in El Dorado County? Or would you like to go on a guided tour of The Towe Auto Museum, the Crocker Art Gallery or the Sacramento Zoo? Our newest Branch Activity will allow you to do all of these things and have a group lunch where we can enjoy each others company and plan the next activity.
