Jim Mayfield of Sub Sea Systems shared stories about his many underwater creations from Submarines and “SeaTREK” to the “Dive Bell” and Aquaticar”. Jim not only told us about his inventions and shared some great stories about the adventures and challenges behind them.

The presentation was such a hit that afterwards seven SIRs mobbed him after with more questions–and for a chance to get their picture taken wearing the SeaTREK helmet! It was informative, entertaining, and most of all, FUN!!!!

August 2026

He discussed how drones have evolved over the years and how they train the military to us drones.

Our very own Past Big Sir Lieutenant Coopwood and his fabulous flying machines. He shared his experiences and fascinating stories about them.

He brought several drones to the luncheon and demonstrated their use. He also showed a film on the exciting new sport: drone racing.

Comedy magician Al Skinner had the audience laughing and amazed as the combined clever magic with plenty of audience participation.

Many of our own SIRs members–including John, Bob, Greg, Allen, Joe, Ken and several others became part of the show making for an afternoon filled with laughter, smiles, and surprises.

Members were treated to a few entertaining tales, some well-known name-dropping and stories involving comedians and entertainers I had the privilege to work with over the years.

In addition, I shared, on the big screen of the Dante Club, photos and video clips from my years owning and operating Laughs Unlimited Comedy Clubs in Sacramento.

A couple of the audience’s favorites included vintage television commercials featuring comedian Bob Saget and me, along with stand-up performance by Pat Paulsen, famous for his appearance on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.

It was a pleasure sharing a small piece of Sacramento comedy history with the group.
